Government Provides $1 Million Emergency Humanitarian Aid to Lebanon for 'Beirut Explosion'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The government announced on the 7th that it has decided to provide emergency humanitarian aid worth 1 million dollars to Lebanon, which suffered severe damage from the large-scale explosion that occurred in Beirut on the 4th (local time).
Earlier, President Moon Jae-in expressed deep condolences and sympathy to the victims and bereaved families of the explosion through a condolence message to Lebanese President Michel Aoun on the 5th.
So far, since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011, the government has provided a total of 13.3 million dollars in humanitarian aid to Lebanon, which has hosted many Syrian refugees. This year, in addition to support projects for Syrian refugees in Lebanon, the government is promoting support worth 3 million dollars for COVID-19 response and other efforts.
