The 2nd GED Exam Allows Self-Quarantined Test Takers... Mask Wearing Mandatory
Consideration of Individual Test Centers or Home Exams
Entry Allowed from 7:40 AM
Early Arrival Needed Due to Time-Consuming Fever Checks
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] In the second elementary, middle, and high school equivalency exams of the year, scheduled for the 22nd, individuals under self-quarantine due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) will also be allowed to take the test.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 7th that it will post the 2020 2nd equivalency exam candidate guidelines containing this information on the education office website. This exam is expected to have 5,791 candidates at 11 test centers.
From this exam onward, the education office plans to allow self-quarantined individuals to take the test. In the previous first exam, those who had traveled abroad within the last 14 days or were under self-quarantine were restricted from entering the test centers. Separate application procedures for self-quarantined candidates to take the exam at separate test sites will be provided.
An official from the education office stated, "Depending on the number of self-quarantined candidates among the examinees, we are considering setting up test centers or allowing them to take the exam at home." They added, "Since we have experience dispatching supervisors for 'Visiting Equivalency Exams' to administer tests at home, fairness issues are not a major concern." The Visiting Equivalency Exam service allows severely disabled individuals who must remain bedridden to take the exam at home.
General candidates must wear masks on the exam day, and those not wearing masks will be restricted from taking the exam. Masks must be worn from entry to exit of the test center. Since temperature checks and other procedures before entering the test center may take some time, the test center doors will open from 7:40 a.m. Candidates taking the middle and high school equivalency exams must bring their own lunch boxes and drinking water.
