Jeju Yongamsu to Export for the First Time to Russia Following China and Vietnam
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] Orion announced on the 6th that it has started exporting its premium mineral water, ‘Orion Jeju Yongamsu,’ to Russia following China and Vietnam. The initial export volume totaled 47 tons, shipped in two batches from Busan Port to Vladivostok Port and Vostochny Port starting from the 27th of last month.
Orion Jeju Yongamsu will be distributed and sold through the sales network of Orion’s Russian subsidiary. Due to the geographical characteristics of Russia, the water contains lime, so people in the region purchase bottled water for drinking. With recent improvements in living standards, demand for healthy food and beverages is increasing, making it a promising market for premium water. Orion plans to use this export as a foothold to advance into Europe and Central Asia through Russia.
Orion will begin sales of Jeju Yongamsu primarily in major cities with high income levels such as Moscow and Saint Petersburg, as well as in the Far East regions like Vladivostok and Sakhalin, where there is a high understanding of Korean culture and active consumption of Korean food products. In line with the local Korean Wave trend, which has increased trust and favorability toward Korean products, the product label will include the Korean name ‘Jeju Yongamsu’ to enhance initial attention.
Additionally, Orion plans to expand consumer touchpoints both online and offline by targeting premium food ingredient stores, large supermarkets, and e-commerce channels such as ‘Wildberries.’ Digital marketing will also be conducted by attaching QR codes to the products to inform locals about the water source of Jeju Yongamsu and the benefits of mineral water.
Orion Jeju Yongamsu is made from the clean water resources of pristine Jeju. The raw water, called ‘Yongamsu,’ is seawater naturally filtered through volcanic rock layers and seeps into the land’s underground, containing minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and potassium. State-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and new technologies from Germany and Switzerland have been introduced, with top researchers specializing in mineral blending and water taste participating in its development. Based on excellent product quality, Orion is actively targeting global markets including China and Vietnam as well as domestic sales.
