Mercedes-Benz Korea Appoints Kim Ji-seop, Vice President of Customer Service, as Acting CEO
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Mercedes-Benz Korea announced on the 5th that it has appointed Vice President Kim Ji-seop, who oversees the customer service division, as the Acting CEO.
This decision was made because Bjørn Hauber, President of Mercedes-Benz Sweden and Denmark, who was originally appointed as the new CEO effective August 1, was unable to assume the position due to personal reasons.
Acting CEO Kim was selected in 2002 for Mercedes-Benz's global talent development program, the 'Asia Management Associate Program,' and joined Mercedes-Benz Korea. In 2003, he worked at Daimler's Australia-Pacific headquarters, and in 2004, he worked at the German headquarters.
Since 2005, he has built experience in various fields at Mercedes-Benz Korea, including sales, marketing and product strategy planning, customer service, and parts sales and marketing. In 2015, he was promoted to Vice President and appointed as the head of the customer service division.
Mercedes-Benz Korea stated that considering the importance of the Korean market, they swiftly appointed Kim, who has a deep understanding of the domestic market, as the Acting CEO. He has demonstrated performance over 18 years at Mercedes-Benz, including working at headquarters.
Vice President Kim, who will concurrently serve as Acting CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea, said, "I feel a heavy sense of responsibility in taking on this important role," and added, "I will do my best to provide the best products and services worthy of the brand's reputation to domestic customers who support Mercedes-Benz."
