'2020 Incheon Pentaport Music Festival' to be Held Online and Offline in October... First Live Broadcast Included
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] This year, the 'Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival' will be live-streamed online for the first time ever.
Hosted by Incheon City and co-organized by Incheon Tourism Organization and Gyeonggi Ilbo, the '2020 Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival' will be held both online and offline simultaneously on October 16-17 at Songdo Moonlight Festival Park.
This year, due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), an untact (contactless) performance format has been introduced to hold the festival safely.
While delivering a message of overcoming COVID-19 with the rock spirit of resistance, a gratitude concert will also be held inviting citizens, medical staff, and volunteers who have worked hard to overcome COVID-19.
In particular, by conducting the festival both online and offline simultaneously, it will be live-streamed online for the first time in history.
The organizers plan to feature top domestic artists as it is difficult for overseas artists to enter the country. Detailed lineups will be announced sequentially after mid-month.
The organizers will strictly manage quarantine measures such as maintaining distance between spectators and not operating tasting and promotional booths to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
First held in 2006, the Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival is celebrating its 15th edition this year. It was designated as a promising festival by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for eight consecutive years from 2012 to 2019, and was selected as a Korea Cultural Tourism Festival for 2020-2021.
A Pentaport Rock Festival official said, "We will successfully carry out the first-ever simultaneous online and offline event to continue the festival’s reputation as Incheon’s representative music festival," adding, "We hope this festival will bring hope and comfort to citizens who are tired and struggling due to COVID-19."
