Assemblyman Song Gap-seok Secures 1.2 Billion KRW in Special Grants for Pedestrian Overpass Repairs and New Daycare Center Construction
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Assemblyman Song Gap-seok (Democratic Party of Korea·Gwangju Seo-gu Gap) announced on the 5th that he secured 1.2 billion KRW in special grants, including 700 million KRW for the repair project of pedestrian overpasses in Seo-gu, Gwangju, and 500 million KRW for the construction of the national/public Yudeok Daycare Center.
Assemblyman Song stated, “Due to the aging of pedestrian overpasses in the district, many facilities have rusted and been damaged, raising citizens' concerns about pedestrian safety,” and added, “I hope this project will greatly contribute to improving citizen safety and the city’s aesthetics.”
He also emphasized, “The Yudeok Daycare Center is 24 years old, not only worn and cramped but also experiencing leaks and cracks, making improvements to the childcare environment urgent,” and said, “With the new construction of the daycare center, better childcare services will be provided.”
The pedestrian overpass repair project is planned to target facilities in Yangdong, Nongsong-dong, Geumho-dong, Hwajeong-dong, Chipyeong-dong, and Yuchon-dong areas of Seo-gu, and it is expected to benefit approximately 300,000 citizens.

For the Yudeok Daycare Center, the 500 million KRW from this special grant will cover the budget shortfall out of the total project cost of 2.3 billion KRW. Construction is scheduled to begin in September this year and be completed by February next year.
