Nongshim Equipped with 'Relief Support Process' Launches Emergency Aid in Flood-Affected Areas... Providing Ramen and Bottled Water
Support of 20,000 Cup Ramen and 20,000 Bottles of Baeksansu Water
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Nongshim has launched emergency relief activities for Chungcheongbuk-do and some areas of Gyeonggi Province that were damaged by heavy rains.
On the 5th, Nongshim announced that it will provide 20,000 cups of Shin Ramyun Cup noodles and 20,000 bottles of Baeksansu (500㎖) to the flood-affected areas. The relief supplies will be distributed to affected residents and recovery personnel through the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association and the National Food Bank.
A Nongshim official said, “Since heavy rain is forecast mainly in the central region, we will further review whether to provide additional emergency relief,” adding, “We hope the damage caused by this flood will be restored as soon as possible.”
Nongshim supports people suffering from disasters such as floods and wildfires every year by providing ramen and bottled water. Based on the company’s philosophy of ‘sharing the good things we have and pursuing happiness together,’ it has established its own relief support process. This is to provide prompt and systematic support to practically help with disaster recovery when disasters occur. Nongshim provided ramen and bottled water to affected areas during last year’s wildfires in Gangwon Province, the 2017 Pohang earthquake, and the heavy rains in Cheongju.
In February of this year, Nongshim urgently supplied 200,000 Shin Ramyun cups to citizens under self-quarantine and vulnerable groups in Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions, where the COVID-19 disaster situation was most severe, through the National Disaster Relief Association. Then, in March, 108,000 rice noodles were delivered to elderly people in Seoul who were unable to have meals due to welfare facility closures and suspension of free meals caused by the spread of COVID-19, through the Community Chest of Korea.
