Iksan City One-Stop Support for Unmarried Pregnant Women’s Childbirth, Parenting, and Independence
Opening of the Single Mother and Child Welfare Facility 'Gippeum-ui House'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jae-hee] Iksan City, Jeonbuk, has opened the doors to the ‘Iksan House of Joy,’ where single mothers can comfortably give birth and raise their babies, and has begun full-scale operations.
On the 4th, the city announced that it held an opening ceremony for the single mother and child welfare facility ‘House of Joy,’ which provides comprehensive support for single mothers’ childbirth, childcare, and self-reliance.
The opening ceremony was held with Mayor Jeong Heon-yul, City Council Chairman Yoo Jae-gu, heads and officials of single-parent and single mother-related facilities in attendance.
With the opening of this single mother and child facility, it is now possible to provide one-stop support for safe childbirth, postpartum care, and social and economic independence for single pregnant women.
The ‘House of Joy’ is located on the second floor within the Gippeum Church in Mohyeon-dong. The first floor includes classrooms, counseling rooms, a medical office, a dining hall, and offices, while the second floor has eight living rooms and a communal childcare room.
The facility is open to single pregnant women and single mothers with children under six months old, and residents can stay for up to one year and six months.
