Kim Seon-kyo "If the Democratic Party Had Tried Finding Jeonse or Wolse Before Pushing the Law..."
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Seon-gyo, a member of the Future United Party, criticized some ruling party members' remarks that "Why is monthly rent bad?" saying, "If they had ever tried to find a jeonse or monthly rent before pushing the law through, they wouldn't have said such things," and warned that the damage from the three lease laws would fall on ordinary people.
On the 4th, during a 5-minute free speech at the plenary session, Rep. Kim said, "If you try to create an ideal society sitting at a desk ignoring reality, the damage will fall on the common people."
He stated, "I am a native of Yangpyeong-gun who has never moved or changed my address even once in 60 years. After becoming a lawmaker, I tried to find a residential space in Seoul to focus on legislative activities," adding, "However, recently, the supply of jeonse has disappeared. This is due to the real estate lease three laws passed by the Democratic Party."
Rep. Kim criticized, "The Democratic Party says, 'Why is monthly rent bad?' and 'Those who regret the disappearance of the jeonse system seem to have a consciousness stuck in the development era.' If they had ever tried to find a jeonse or monthly rent before pushing the law through, they wouldn't have said such things."
He added, "At least if they had come to me and asked, I would have properly explained the feelings of ordinary people," and pointed out, "The jeonse system is a unique system in our country. Although monthly rent is the global trend, through the jeonse system, people save the jeonse deposit to realize home ownership, which is how ordinary Koreans acquire their own homes."

Rep. Kim criticized, "The reality is that the jeonse deposit acts as a ladder to home ownership, and people try to climb that ladder to fulfill their dream of owning a home. The Democratic Party has kicked away that ladder."
