The personnel changes are expected to be announced as early as that day.
According to the legal community on the 4th, the Ministry of Justice will hold the Prosecutor Personnel Committee at the Government Complex Gwacheon on the 6th to discuss promotions and transfers of high-ranking prosecutors, and plans to announce the personnel changes as early as the afternoon of the same day.
This Personnel Committee meeting is being held one week after it was initially scheduled for the 30th of last month but canceled a day before.
Prosecutors from the 27th to 28th Judicial Research and Training Institute classes are expected to be promoted in this personnel change.
Currently, among those at the chief prosecutor level or higher, 11 positions are vacant, including the Seoul and Busan High Prosecutors' Offices Chiefs, Seoul Southern District Prosecutor's Office Chief, Incheon District Prosecutor's Office Chief, the Human Rights Department Chief of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, Deputy Chiefs of the Seoul, Daejeon, Daegu, Gwangju, and Busan High Prosecutors' Offices, and the Planning Department Chief of the Judicial Research and Training Institute. There is also a possibility that 2 to 3 deputy chief prosecutor positions at the chief prosecutor level will remain vacant.
The Ministry of Justice plans to carry out mid-level personnel changes within this month after completing the appointments at the chief prosecutor level or higher.
In the previous personnel changes in January, prosecutors from the 26th (3 people) and 27th (2 people) classes of the Judicial Research and Training Institute were promoted to chief prosecutors.
The Prosecutor Personnel Committee consists of 11 members. Lawyer Lee Chang-jae, who previously served as the Deputy Minister of Justice, is the chairman. The committee includes three prosecutors, two judges, two lawyers, two law professors, and two external members. The two judges only attend when new appointments are made.
