Jeonju Hanok Village Rises as a World-Renowned Attraction
UK Travel Magazine Recommends Jeonju as a Must-Visit Destination
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jaehee] Jeonju Hanok Village in Jeonbuk, which preserves the charm of tradition in the city center, has been recommended as a must-visit travel destination by a leading British travel magazine.
On the 3rd, the city stated that the British travel magazine Travel Weekly selected Jeonju as a must-visit destination in its feature "Ask the operators: Best places to visit in Asia this year and next."
Travel Weekly, founded in 1969, is a famous weekly magazine with over 45,000 subscribers and approximately 7.8 million annual visitors to its website.
Chris Greener, product manager for Southeast Asia and China at the travel magazine, introduced Jeonju as "a city well known for its Hanok Village, and a gastronomic tour to taste foods like bibimbap and kimchi will never disappoint."
He also explained, "While modern and bustling Seoul is wonderful, Jeonju is an attractive place where you can stay overnight in a Hanok guesthouse," adding, "It is a suitable travel destination for those seeking something new away from ordinary daily life."
The city expects Jeonju to gain attention as a unique travel destination different from previous experiences, especially in a situation where traveling overseas by plane itself can be a big adventure for travelers after COVID-19.
Going forward, the city plans to strengthen overseas promotion using content and online platforms to lead the tourism industry in the post-COVID era and establish itself as a global travel destination.
