At a press conference held in the briefing room of the Gwangju City Council on the same day, Park Ju-min said, "Considering the symbolism of the May 18 Democratic Movement, it would be better for the Constitutional Court to be located in Gwangju."
However, he added, "This is not a discussion at the party level, but a personal idea I have."
In particular, he emphasized, "The relocation of the Constitutional Court to Gwangju is meaningful not in terms of moving the administrative capital, but in terms of education and talent development, which are factors contributing to population concentration in the Seoul metropolitan area."
Park also explained about the relocation of public institutions linked to the policy of decentralizing the Seoul metropolitan area and fostering key universities.
Candidate Park promised, "If I lead the Democratic Party as party leader, I will promptly process laws related to the May 18 Democratic Movement and carry on the spirit of May."
Meanwhile, before the press conference, Candidate Park visited the National May 18 Democratic Cemetery in Buk-gu.
