Damyang-gun Announces Contest for Youth Farmers' Competitiveness Enhancement Project... Accepting Applications
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Choi Hyung-sik) announced on the 3rd that it is recruiting applicants for the 2021 Youth Farmer Competitiveness Enhancement Project until the 18th to establish a successful model for young farmers.
The Youth Farmer Competitiveness Enhancement Project is a program where new technologies developed by the Rural Development Administration and the creative ideas of young farmers converge to create high added value for agricultural products.
Also, every August, Jeollanam-do selects project recipients through recommendations from city and county agricultural technology centers and evaluations, and the project is implemented the following year as a self-directed public contest.
This year, five locations within the province will be selected, and those chosen for the project will receive support of 45 million KRW per person with a self-payment of 5 million KRW.
Eligibility requires applicants to be young farmers aged between 18 and under 40, who have engaged in farming for more than two years and have completed or been exempted from military service.
Applications are accepted until the 18th, and applicants can download the application form from the county office website (notices) and submit it in person at the Agricultural Technology Center.
The county plans to select one person through a project plan and on-site evaluation and recommend them to Jeollanam-do.

Lee Cheol-gyu, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, “We aim to establish a new success model by combining the innovative ideas and new technologies of young farmers who will be the main actors of future agriculture,” and added, “As this project is essential for stable farming settlement, we hope for active interest and participation from young farmers.”
