View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] In the Gyeongbuk region, cases of COVID-19 being imported from overseas or other regions have been continuously occurring since the 5th of last month, raising concerns about a resurgence of community transmission within the region.
According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 3rd, a 50-year-old man who entered through Incheon Airport on July 20 tested positive on the 2nd during a test for release from self-quarantine and was admitted to Andong Medical Center. This man, who has an address in Cheongdo County, is understood to have stayed in Kazakhstan since December last year before returning to Korea.
As of midnight on the 3rd, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Gyeongbuk region has increased to 1,362. The number of recovered patients and deaths remains the same as the previous day at 1,293 (95.4%) and 58, respectively.
While sporadic cases of overseas importation continue in the Gyeongbuk region, a mother and daughter who visited relatives in Gyeongsan City from Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province on the 1st and 2nd were confirmed as positive cases. This is the first confirmed community transmission in 26 days since the 5th.
