North Korea Condemns ROK-US Missile Guidelines Revision as "Malicious Intent for Military Buildup Confrontation"
"Double-faced Attitude"
The external propaganda media Uri Minjok Kkiri TV criticized the South for intensifying its development and acquisition of advanced weapons aimed at us on the 2nd. The photo shows Kim Hyun-jong, Deputy Director of the National Security Office at the Blue House, featured in a report by Uri Minjok Kkiri TV. Deputy Director Kim announced on the 28th of last month through a briefing that the revision of missile guidelines has lifted the restriction on the use of solid fuel for space launch vehicles.
North Korea condemned the revision of the South Korea-U.S. missile guidelines that lifted restrictions on the use of solid fuel for South Korea's space launch vehicles, calling it a "hostile confrontation" on the 2nd.
North Korea's external propaganda outlet, Meori, claimed in an article titled "Increasingly Revealed Deception and Betrayal" that the South is "revealing hostile intentions by saying that it can now launch low-earth orbit military reconnaissance satellites using solid-fuel space launch vehicles, and that it will resolve ballistic missile range restrictions through consultations with the U.S."
This is the first time North Korean media has mentioned the issue of solid-fuel space launch vehicles since the missile guideline revision announcement on the 28th of last month.
The outlet added that "voices of condemnation are erupting from various sectors in the South, saying that the military buildup provocations and the insistence on joint military exercises with the U.S. are acts of betrayal against the compatriots," and that "criticism of this double standard is intensifying."
Ourminjokkiri TV, in an article titled "Unique Dialogue Method," pointed out the South's military buildup moves as a "double standard."
The media stated, "The word that the South Korean authorities have probably used the most is 'dialogue and peace,'" and criticized, "They always recite this phrase like a habit with pleasant words in front, but their actions behind the scenes are completely different."
In particular, the media released a photo of Kim Hyun-jong, the 2nd Deputy Director of the National Security Office at the Blue House, alongside this critical article.
It continued, "This year, boasting about spending the highest defense budget ever, they are feverishly developing advanced weapons and purchasing arms aimed at us," and claimed, "There is nothing but the intention to confront us militarily to the end."
Criticism related to the missile guideline revision is only being addressed in external propaganda media. The official Workers' Party newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, which all residents can subscribe to, has not yet mentioned this and is considered to be moderating the level of criticism.
Meanwhile, on the 28th, Deputy Director Kim Hyun-jong stated in a briefing, "From today, we adopt the 2020 missile guideline revision that lifts restrictions on the use of solid fuel for space launch vehicles."
With this missile guideline revision, South Korea will have the capability to launch low-earth orbit (500?2,000 km) military reconnaissance satellites using solid-fuel space launch vehicles whenever and wherever needed, with its own hands.
