Typhoon No. 4 'Hagupit' Brings Torrential Rain to Central Region Until the 4th

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) on the 2nd, as of 8 a.m., heavy rain warnings have been issued for Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Gangwon-do, Chungcheong-do, and parts of Gyeongbuk, with very heavy rainfall of 30 to 70mm occurring.
In particular, the southern part of Gyeonggi and the northern part of Chungbuk are experiencing very heavy rain exceeding 100mm per hour, accompanied by strong gusts and thunder and lightning.
The KMA urged special caution for facility management, lowland flooding damage, and traffic safety on rainy roads, as gusts and thunder/lightning with rainfall exceeding 30mm per hour are expected in the central region and northern Gyeongbuk during the morning, and some areas in southern Gyeonggi, northern Chungbuk, and northern Gyeongbuk may experience very heavy rain of 100mm per hour.
From 6 p.m. the previous day to 8 a.m. on the day, rainfall at major points was 279.0mm in Iljuk-myeon, Anseong-si, Gyeonggi; 151.5mm in Daesin-myeon, Yeoju-si; 124.0mm in Silchon-eup, Gwangju-si; 111.0mm in Baegam-myeon, Yongin-si; 166.5mm in Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon; 155.0mm in Sillim-myeon, Wonju-si; 130.5mm in Sindong-eup, Jeongseon-gun; 225.0mm in Yeongchun-myeon, Danyang-gun, Chungbuk; 211.0mm in Baegun-myeon, Jecheon-si; 155.3mm in Bonghwa, Gyeongbuk; and 100.0mm in Maseong-myeon, Mungyeong-si.
During the day, the rainfall intensity may temporarily weaken or show a lull in some areas, but from the evening to the night of the 3rd, very heavy rain of 50 to 80mm per hour (up to around 100mm in some places) will fall again.
The KMA explained that a large amount of water vapor is being supplied from Hagupit, and very heavy rain is expected mainly in the central region until the 4th.
As of 9 a.m. on the day, Hagupit is located about 460km southeast of Taipei, Taiwan, with a maximum wind speed of 64km/h and a strong wind radius of 230km.
The typhoon is moving north at 11km per hour and is expected to pass over land about 50km south-southwest of Hamheung on the 6th after passing through China on the 4th and 5th.
