Has the COVID-19 Spread in China Slowed Down? New Cases Decrease for Two Consecutive Days
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] Chinese researchers have expressed the view that the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Liaoning Province is somewhat subsiding.
On the 2nd, the National Health Commission of China announced that there were 49 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on the 1st, of which 33 were locally transmitted excluding imported cases.
The daily new confirmed cases, which had exceeded 100 for consecutive days, continued to decline by recording double digits for two consecutive days.
The newly confirmed asymptomatic infections numbered 20, of which 11 were locally transmitted.
Among the new confirmed cases, 29 were in Urumqi, accounting for the majority, and one case was reported in Kashgar. The asymptomatic infections were revealed to be 9 cases only in Urumqi.
Chinese experts stated that the COVID-19 situation in Xinjiang, which had reached 112 new confirmed cases on the 30th of last month, appears to have reached an inflection point.
In Liaoning Province, 3 new confirmed cases were reported only in Dalian, and 1 asymptomatic infection was confirmed.
In Dalian, where nucleic acid testing is being conducted on all residents, testing has been completed for 4.48 million people as of the previous day. Among them, it has been confirmed that more than 100 people have tested positive so far.
The Dalian city authorities have issued an order for all residents not to leave the city unless it is absolutely necessary.
