Grand Josun Busan, Opening Delayed to August Due to Heavy Rain Damage
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Shinsegae Chosun Hotel announced on the 31st that it will postpone the opening of Grand Chosun Busan, originally scheduled for August 25.
Shinsegae Chosun Hotel stated that due to the unprecedented heavy rain that poured over the Busan area on the 23rd, the underground parking lot was flooded, causing damage to key operational facilities such as the machine room and electrical room. Consequently, they have decided to postpone the opening to carry out necessary repairs.
Shinsegae Chosun Hotel plans to focus on significantly strengthening safety measures during the restoration process, not only to return to the previous state but also to fundamentally prevent recurrence.
Taking this flooding damage as an opportunity, they intend to thoroughly inspect safety conditions to fundamentally prevent accidents from happening again, aiming to make the hotel a place where customers can stay safely and securely under any circumstances.
In particular, to completely block rainwater inflow into the underground parking lot, they will reinforce the existing primary water barrier and newly install a secondary water barrier to fully block the inflow paths.
They also plan to take thorough measures to minimize inconvenience to customers who have already booked the hotel for the August 25 opening.
Starting from the 31st, individual notifications will be sent to booked customers, informing them of the cancellation and, as an apology, providing a free one-night stay voucher to be used after the opening.
For customers who must stay in Busan during the affected period, arrangements will be made to connect them to the nearby Westin Chosun Hotel Busan.
Shinsegae Chosun Hotel will make additional announcements once further schedules, including the new opening date, are confirmed. Grand Chosun Busan is a newly renovated 5-star hotel with a total of 330 rooms, formerly the Novotel Ambassador Busan.
