Haenam-gun Accelerates Preparations for Large-Scale Public Contest Projects
Selected 71 Cases in the First Half, Anticipating Public Contest Results in the Second Half Including Urban Regeneration New Deal Projects
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Myeong Hyeon-gwan) announced on the 30th that 71 projects were selected this year in various public contests conducted by central government ministries, Jeollanam-do, and other external organizations, securing 23.1 billion KRW in national and provincial funds.
In the first half of this year, Haenam-gun promoted public contest projects across all areas of county administration, surpassing last year's total number of projects (67) and achieving selection in various contests.
In the first half of the year, Haenam-gun showed results in establishing a base for stay-type tourism hub cities by being selected for projects in the cultural tourism sector, including the 2020 Regional Demand Customized Support Project linked with Gangjin-gun, the Namdo Food Street Creation Project, and the Old Tourist Site Regeneration Project.
In particular, many public contest projects were selected in areas closely related to residents' lives such as the old water supply maintenance project, smart city integrated platform infrastructure construction, early life health management pilot project, and bicycle road accident risk area safety improvement project, which are expected to greatly contribute to improving the convenience and safety of local residents' lives.
The county plans to actively respond to large-scale public contest projects in the second half of the year, such as the Urban Regeneration New Deal Project, Fishing Village New Deal 300 Project, and next year's Living SOC Complex Project, accelerating preparations for these contests.
The Urban Regeneration New Deal Project is a project to regenerate the residential environment and village community of the old downtown area of Haenam-eup near the Maeil Market and the 5-day Market. Since last year, the county has organized and operated an urban regeneration promotion team and administrative council, and established the basic plan, the Urban Regeneration Strategic Plan, through consultations such as resident public hearings.
The Fishing Village New Deal 300 Contest Project, which had a total of five sites selected last year and this year, plans to apply for seven sites this year, including Munnae Imhado Port and Hwasan Gwandong Port, and submitted a preliminary plan to Jeollanam-do on the 10th.
Next year's Living SOC Complex Project will promote the construction of a complex sports and cultural center combining a sports center for the disabled and a small library.
