[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] KT announced on the 30th that it has developed the 'DoctorCore IP' solution, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to detect causes of internet service quality degradation and faults before customers report them.
DoctorCore IP is a technology where AI learns in real-time from data generated by hundreds of thousands of devices built into KT's internet network, as well as various factors that can affect service such as DDoS attacks, and compares them with normal data values to proactively identify causes of internet quality degradation.
Previously, when internet quality issues occurred, engineers had to manually analyze vast records of all network equipment in the affected area, which consumed significant time and resources.
KT stated, "With DoctorCore IP, quality issues can be detected within minutes," and expressed expectations that the quality of internet-based services such as Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) will be further enhanced.
The solution was first pilot-applied to KT's Giga Internet networks in the Busan, Gyeongnam, and Chungcheong regions, and is scheduled to be expanded nationwide to KT's Giga Internet networks after February.
KT plans to develop the technology further by linking DoctorCore IP with KT's existing network intelligence system to automate monitoring, analysis, and response tasks across the entire network segment.
Jong-sik Lee, Head of KT Infrastructure Research Center (Executive Director), evaluated, "By applying KT's differentiated network AI technology to commercial internet networks, we have significantly enhanced the quality of internet and IPTV services experienced by customers."
