‘Hampyeong Saeng Bibimbap Ingredient Center’ Officially Opens on the 31st

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Hampyeong Saeng (Raw) Bibimbap Ingredient Center will officially open on the 31st.

According to Hampyeong County on the 29th, the Hampyeong Saeng (Raw) Bibimbap Ingredient Center will begin consignment operation through the "Hampyeong-gun Agricultural Entrepreneurs' Farming Cooperative Corporation (Representative Lim Chaemun)" starting from the 31st of this month.

After a recruitment announcement in April and the center's operation committee meeting last month, the "Hampyeong-gun Agricultural Entrepreneurs' Farming Cooperative Corporation" was finally selected as the new consignment operator.

The contract period is two years, until June 2022.

Previously, at the end of 2018, the county invested about 600 million KRW in total project costs to build the Hampyeong Saeng Bibimbap Ingredient Center with an area of 99㎡ (approximately 30 pyeong) in the Bibimbap Theme Street located in the town.

To foster the local representative dish, Korean beef raw meat bibimbap, and to provide related ingredients fresh and efficiently, the center is equipped with 15 types of various facilities including meat processing equipment and freezing/refrigeration rooms.

Through the ingredient center, the county plans to sell locally produced Korean beef meat, onions, garlic, pumpkins, etc., and supply ingredients to local Saeng Bibimbap businesses at prices lower than market value.

Lee Sang-ik, Hampyeong County Governor, said, "With the opening of the Hampyeong Saeng Bibimbap Ingredient Center, a fundamental foundation has been established for the efficient distribution of excellent local agricultural and livestock products," and added, "We will quickly find solutions, including expanding contract cultivation by farm, linked with local food stores, which is currently under review."
