Despite Heavy Rain Warnings, Damage in Jeonbuk Area Remains Minimal
Up to 176.5mm of Rainfall in Gunsan Eocheongdo
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jae-hee] The Jeonbuk region, where heavy rain warnings were issued due to heavy rainfall, has reported minimal damage.
According to Jeonbuk Province on the 24th, an average of 53.8mm of heavy rain fell, but no significant damage has been reported.
In the Jeonbuk area, heavy rain warnings were issued for nine cities and counties, including a heavy rain alert for Gunsan, and heavy rain advisories for Iksan, Jeongeup, Namwon, Gimje, Imsil, Sunchang, Gochang, and Buan.
Rainfall by city and county was highest in Wanju with 72.7mm, followed by Gunsan with 72.1mm, Imsil with 71.1mm, Sunchang with 67.3mm, and Jeonju with 61.1mm. Some areas received even more rain, such as Eocheongdo in Gunsan with 176.5mm, Bokheung in Sunchang with 115.5mm, and Gangjin in Imsil with 109.0mm.
Although heavy rain continued from midday until late at night the previous day, there were only eight fire department dispatches related to drainage backflow, fallen trees, roof securing, and construction site safety measures, as well as safety measures for residential walls.

Kim Yang-won, Director of the Provincial Safety Office, stated, “There was no significant damage in the province due to this rain, but casualties and property damage continue to occur in areas such as Busan.” He added, “We will not be complacent and will conduct preemptive monitoring and proactive responses in disaster-prone areas to minimize damage to residents.”
