LS Electric Develops 'Big Data Utilization Technology' with Microsoft
'Smart Factory and Digital Transformation' Research and Development Collaboration
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] LS Electric announced on the 23rd that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Microsoft Korea for research and development (R&D) cooperation in the fields of smart factories and digital transformation using artificial intelligence and cloud technology.
Through this 'LS ELECTRIC R&D STAR partners™' agreement, the two companies plan to collaborate on R&D for digital transformation, including advanced smart factory technology research and development at LS Electric's Cheongju Smart Factory by utilizing Microsoft's artificial intelligence and cloud technologies.
LS Electric will promote the development of defect detection technology using noise and vibration analysis, predictive maintenance of equipment, and deep learning by applying Microsoft's cloud Internet of Things (IoT) platform 'Azure IoT', data platforms, and artificial intelligence to its production processes.
Microsoft plans to provide relevant reference architectures and data on digital transformation trends in the power sector.
Additionally, to expand smart factory construction for domestic small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies, the two companies will strengthen cooperation with related organizations and companies, enhance the competitiveness of the root industry, and jointly work to expand the overseas market for Korean-style smart factory platform-related industries.
