[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] One meal distribution worker at Cheongdam Middle School in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, tested positive for COVID-19, leading to the suspension of students' in-person attendance.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education on the 22nd, meal distribution worker A was confirmed positive for COVID-19 on the same day. It was reported that A worked as a lunch distribution assistant until the 17th of this month. After symptoms appeared, A did not go to work.
The Office of Education explained, "The 3rd-year students took their exams and went home this morning, and the 2nd-year exams were scheduled after 2 p.m., but attendance was suspended."
The quarantine authorities also required all 188 individuals, including 120 second-year students and 68 staff members who may have come into contact with A between the 13th and 17th of this month, to undergo testing. Seven people classified as close contacts were tested and placed under self-quarantine. It is known that A, the students, and the staff were all wearing masks.
