Damyang-gun Recruiting Participants for 'Living First in Jeonnam' Program
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Damyang-gun, Jeonnam Province (Governor Choi Hyung-sik) announced on the 21st that it is recruiting participants for the ‘Living First in Jeonnam’ project.
This project was promoted to understand the cultural differences between urban and rural areas and to increase urban residents' interest in returning to farming.
Those wishing to return to farming or rural living can stay and participate in experience programs for 5 to a maximum of 60 days, exploring the region through this stay-type support project, which will operate until November.
Additionally, by living directly in the village and completing missions such as exploring cultural tourist sites, participating in return-to-farming education, visiting leading farms, helping with labor, and donating talents, participants earn points.
If a certain score is achieved, participants will be recognized for completion and receive participation credits.
The target areas are 22 general villages and farms selected by Jeonnam Province, and the county operates the program in Unsudaetong Village, Daedeok-myeon.
The county currently restricts participation for those with fever, respiratory symptoms, or who have traveled abroad within the last 14 days to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the operating villages.
The village registers electronic entry logs (KI-pass) and checks participants' entry status and health conditions at least three times a week.
Participation is possible through the website, and prior inquiries about the target villages can be made to Unsudaetong Village.
Eligibility requires residency outside Jeonnam Province based on resident registration, and individuals or families interested in returning to farming or rural living can apply.

A county official said, “We hope this will be a good opportunity for former residents or visitors to directly experience and learn about Damyang, a pleasant place to live where about 2,000 people return to rural living annually,” and added, “We ask for active participation and promotion from those interested.”
