View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] LG Electronics announced on the 21st that it has launched a new ‘LG UltraGear’ gaming monitor in the global market.
The new product features the world’s first 4K resolution IPS panel with a 1ms (millisecond, one-thousandth of a second) response time. It uses a 144Hz (hertz) high refresh rate that displays 144 frames per second, making screen movements smoother. The product is equipped with high-performance features optimized for high-end gaming environments and received the ‘CES 2020’ Innovation Award earlier this year.
It is equipped with a ‘Nano IPS display’ that applies nanometer (nm, one-billionth of a meter) scale fine particles to the backlight, expressing accurate and rich colors. It meets 98% of the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) standard color gamut ‘DCI-P3’.
It has graphic compatibility features such as ‘NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible’ and ‘AMD Radeon FreeSync Premium Pro.’ These synchronize the refresh rate of the monitor screen with the graphics card signals from external devices to minimize screen tearing.
It also supports the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) ‘Display Stream Compression (DSC)’ technology. DSC technology allows fast transmission of 4K resolution 144Hz high refresh rate content with just one DisplayPort cable connection, minimizing original image quality loss. It is equipped with HDR technology and has received the ‘VESA DisplayHDR 600’ certification.
This product won the main prize in the product design category at the ‘Red Dot Design Award,’ one of the world’s top three design awards, earlier this year.
LG Electronics started sales on open markets the day before and will operate experience zones where customers can directly try the product at major LG Best Shop stores from the 24th. The domestic shipment price is 1.09 million KRW.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics also unveiled a new emblem. It embodies a wing shape representing the ‘desire for victory.’ The new emblem will be applied to the rear design of the top-tier gaming monitors with IPS 1ms technology, including this new product.
