Captured in the '50 Years of the Agency for Defense Development' Stamp
[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] The Agency for Defense Development was established on August 6, 1970, to develop science and technology for self-reliant defense. Over the past 50 years, the agency has independently developed the K9 self-propelled howitzer, KT-1 basic trainer, and has operationalized 355 weapon systems.
The Korea Post under the Ministry of Science and ICT will issue 672,000 commemorative stamps on the 16th to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the agency, which has been at the forefront of Korea's self-reliant defense through such achievements.
The commemorative stamps feature an image of a Korean-made medium-altitude reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle flying in the sky along with a satellite communication antenna.
Park Jong-seok, head of Korea Post, said, "Through the issuance of these commemorative stamps, we hope to reflect on the value of self-reliant defense and take pride in the remarkable advancements in South Korea's defense science and technology."
