The ‘2020 Industrial Safety and Health Emphasis Week’ is an event designated by the government every year during the first week of July to raise awareness about the importance of safety and health in workplaces and society through various safety and health-related events.
So far, Busan Port Authority has promoted various safety and health activities based on strong leadership from management, including appointing the president as the person responsible for safety and health management, identifying and improving risk factors at Busan Port, and supporting personal protective equipment and lashing cages (elevated work platforms) to prevent falls among port workers.
BPA introduced these safety and health activity cases through the ‘Public Institution Safety and Health Activity Best Practice Presentation Contest’ and received an excellence award this time.
Also, a BPA safety and health manager, who is also active as an in-house instructor, participated in the ‘Safety and Health Education Training Competition’ and won the grand prize by presenting on the topic ‘The Lifelong Task of Corporate Management? Safety-Centered Management,’ explaining with statistics the impact of industrial accidents on corporate growth, profits, and financial statements, and emphasizing the necessity of investment in safety.
Nam Ki-chan, President of BPA, stated, “We emphasize that safety is the top priority value of Busan Port, and we will do our best to ensure that all workers using Busan Port can work safely and comfortably.”
