GIG International Develops Emergency Artificial Respirator Assist Device... "Flood of Global Cooperation Requests"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] GIG International announced on the 9th that it has developed the emergency ventilator assist device 'OXIVI' needed for patients with the novel coronavirus infection (hereinafter COVID-19) and completed mass production facilities.
The company has completed experiments and patent applications for the related technology and has also completed applications for various certifications required for export.
As the global resurgence of COVID-19 continues, 30% of severe COVID-19 patients have abnormalities in their lungs requiring artificial respiratory control by supplying oxygen. However, due to high technical barriers and difficulty in obtaining parts, there is a shortage of ventilator supply.
OXIVI is based on a standard resuscitator bag and is equipped with the MIT emergency ventilator design toolbox. It was developed to maximize space efficiency, mobility, durability, and stability.
During the development and testing process, OXIVI won the invention gold medal at the 2018 Nuremberg Invention Exhibition (IENA) in Germany. The development team included a developer with a history of winning the invention grand prize from the International Federation of Inventors' Associations (IFIA), thoracic surgeons specializing in heart and lung areas, and the Central Evaluation Institute for Disaster Response Safety Training under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
OXIVI is an automatic assist device that supplies oxygen in a consistent pattern according to the patient's breathing. It enables stable oxygen supply without the help of an assistant. The number of breaths and volume can be adjusted according to the user's age and situation, and it is designed to deliver sufficient power even at low voltage.
It was especially developed for use outdoors and indoors where electricity supply is difficult. The product features a simplified structure that ensures durability and no malfunctions, prevents detachment of the standard resuscitator bag, and is easy to operate.
A GIG International official said, "The innovative design structure of OXIVI, which adjusts oxygen supply amount and speed according to inhalation and exhalation and delivers sufficient power at low voltage, has completed patent applications and certifications," adding, "Currently, there is no other emergency ventilator developed with a focus on core functions like this product."

GIG International is pursuing contracts with more than 10 countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, and South America for the export of OXIVI. It is also promoting more agreements with international relief organizations to support underdeveloped countries. Kang Gibong, CEO of GIG International, said, "OXIVI focuses on the core functions of emergency ventilators and has excellent advantages in terms of price competitiveness and maintenance," adding, "We believe it will be a great help to patients in underdeveloped countries who have had difficulty accessing treatment opportunities."
