Mapo-gu Provides 1 Million Won Support Fund for Closure of Coin Karaoke Rooms under Gathering Ban
Proactive Support for 27 Coin Karaoke Businesses Struggling Due to Prolonged Closure... Separate Budget from Seoul City Support... 1 Million KRW per Business to be Paid in July
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Mapo-gu (District Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun) will provide a closure support fund of 1 million KRW per business to coin karaoke rooms in the district that are complying with the assembly ban order.
This measure by the district is part of a plan to support coin karaoke rooms in the area facing increasing economic difficulties following the assembly ban order issued in May to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in high-risk facilities.
To this end, the district has allocated its own budget and is taking proactive support measures.
The support targets business operators of coin karaoke rooms registered in Mapo-gu, among the 27 locations complying with the assembly ban order.
The support amount is 1 million KRW per business. Recently, the district completed promotion of the support program and the application process for the closure support fund, and plans to complete the payment of support funds as quickly as possible within July. However, the district plans to conduct unannounced on-site inspections of supported businesses in the future and exclude those found violating business operations from the support program.
The district will accept applications for the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s special quarantine support fund for small business owners operating coin karaoke rooms from July 8 to 10.
The support amount is up to 1 million KRW per business. Businesses operating solely as coin karaoke rooms without other facilities will receive 1 million KRW, while those operating some coin karaoke booths within facilities such as arcades or PC rooms will receive 100,000 KRW per booth, up to a maximum of 1 million KRW.
Applications for the special quarantine support fund can be submitted by visiting the Mapo-gu Culture and Arts Division by July 10. Application forms can be downloaded from the Mapo-gu website.
