At the daily COVID-19 response briefing held on the 6th, Gijang-gun Mayor Oh Gyu-seok instructed enhanced measures to make mask-wearing a habitual part of daily life.
To prevent the continued spread of COVID-19, Gijang-gun previously suspended events, lectures, seminars, and various gatherings, and on the 2nd of this month, it implemented strengthened social distancing measures.
Ilgwang Beach and Imrang Beach, which fully opened on the 1st of this month, have installed 'shade tents' spaced at least 2 meters apart to maintain social distancing and prevent COVID-19.
Through this initiative to make mask-wearing habitual, a mask-wearing campaign will be conducted along with on-site guidance to enable the purchase of masks at convenience stores near the beaches.
The 'Wear a mask when going out' campaign is also ongoing throughout Gijang-gun. In addition to existing banners, 20 more will be installed at multi-use facilities, major intersections, and overpasses?places with frequent resident traffic?bringing the total number of promotional banners to 320.
Furthermore, mask-wearing promotional materials will be posted throughout 111 apartment complexes in the district. By placing these materials in elevators used by residents, the plan is to raise awareness about mask-wearing in daily life.

Mask-wearing should not be mandated only for public transportation users and restaurant workers; the government urgently needs to establish related regulations to mandate mask-wearing anytime and anywhere."
