Epidemiological Investigation 'False Statement' by Gwangju Patient No. 37 Referred to Police Investigation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Health authorities have requested a police investigation into a confirmed COVID-19 case in Gwangju who consistently evaded and gave false statements during an epidemiological investigation.
The Seogu Health Center of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 6th that it has requested an investigation under the "Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act" for Patient A, the 37th confirmed case in Gwangju, who deliberately evaded, gave false statements, and omitted or concealed information about their whereabouts during the epidemiological investigation.
Patient A is a woman in her 60s residing in Hwajeong-dong, Seogu, Gwangju, and is known to be related to Geumyang Officetel.
During the epidemiological investigation, when asked if she had visited Geumyang Officetel, she reportedly gave false statements such as saying she had visited a nearby restaurant.

If false statements are made during an epidemiological investigation, under Article 79 of the Infectious Disease Prevention Act, the offender may face imprisonment of up to 2 years or a fine of up to 20 million won.
