"Rapid Spread Speed in Honam Region, Infection Control Risk Factors" (Update)

Kim Kang-rip, the 1st General Coordinator of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, said at a briefing held at the Government Sejong Complex on the same day, "The virus is spreading sporadically through various routes such as small gatherings, leading to nationwide expansion."
According to the quarantine authorities, the average daily number of new confirmed cases in the community over the past two weeks was 31.1, a decrease of 5.7 from the previous two weeks (36.8).
In the metropolitan area, the average daily number of confirmed cases decreased by 14 during the same period, but in non-metropolitan areas, it increased by 11.7. Kim, the 1st General Coordinator, explained, "As the virus spread to Daejeon·Chungcheong, Daegu·Gyeongbuk, Gwangju·Jeonnam, etc., the average daily number of patients in non-metropolitan areas surged from the previous 3.4."
The average daily number of imported cases over the past two weeks increased by 5.9 to 15.8 compared to the previous two weeks.

Kim, the 1st General Coordinator, said, "Imported cases have not led to secondary or further transmission in the community, so the risk of infection spread is low. Although it is not at a level to raise the stage of social distancing, the crisis level within stage 1 is a serious situation."
