Korean Studies Advancement Center Opens World Documentary Heritage Exhibition Experience Hall ... First Public Opening
Opening Ceremony on the 7th at 10 AM
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] The Korea National Institute of Korean Studies (Director Jo Hyun-jae), located in Andong, Gyeongbuk, announced on the 5th that it will open the World Documentary Heritage Exhibition and Experience Center to allow the public to access the World Documentary Heritage more closely. The opening event will be held on the 7th at 10 a.m. in the main auditorium and courtyard of the Korea National Institute of Korean Studies.
The World Documentary Heritage Exhibition and Experience Center is a facility created to optimally preserve the World Documentary Heritage owned by the Korea National Institute of Korean Studies and to provide visitors with a comfortable exhibition environment. Funded by the Cultural Heritage Administration, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Andong City, it was completed at the end of last year after two years of construction.
The exhibition and experience center has a specialized storage room for plaques on the basement first floor and an open storage room for viewing Confucian woodblocks on the first floor above ground. On the second floor above ground, there is an open storage room for viewing plaques and a space to exhibit and experience the World Documentary Heritage owned by the institute.
Until now, the World Documentary Heritage was stored in specialized storage facilities for Jangpang-gak and plaques, and the general public could not view them. According to the Korea National Institute of Korean Studies, with the opening of this exhibition and experience center, anyone can now comfortably view the actual World Documentary Heritage.
The Korea National Institute of Korean Studies registered 'Korean Confucian Woodblocks' in 2015 and 'National Debt Redemption Movement Records' in 2017 as UNESCO World Documentary Heritage, and 'Korean Plaques' in 2016 and 'Petition of All People - Maninso' in 2018 as Asia-Pacific Regional Documentary Heritage.
