Imsil-gun, the Best of the Best in Jeonbuk Province for Forest Road Projects
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil County has been selected as the best county for implementing the most outstanding forest road projects in the province.
On the 3rd, Imsil County announced that it was selected as the best county by taking first place in both main forest roads and work forest roads in the '2020 Forest Road Project Evaluation' jointly conducted by Jeollabuk-do and private expert evaluation committee members.
This evaluation was conducted through data evaluation and field evaluation by an evaluation team composed of university professors, forest engineering technicians, and others for the 2019 forest road establishment projects (main/work) in the province.
The highly rated areas this time are the 1.39 km main forest road opened around Banggilje in Samgilli, Sindeok-myeon, and the 1.82 km work forest road opened in the lacquer tree complex area in Geumjeong-ri, Sindeok-myeon.
Imsil County received high marks from the expert evaluation committee for excellently constructing more than twice the amount of projects compared to other cities and counties, using slope and embankment greening methods, and installing drainage-related structures.
Jeonbuk Province plans to provide budget incentives for the '2021 Forest Road Project' to cities and counties with excellent evaluations and award commendations from the Forest Service Director and the Governor to project personnel.
In particular, by being selected as the best city/county in this evaluation, Imsil County is expected to receive increased national and provincial budget incentives in next year's budget, which will greatly help the promotion of forest road projects in the financially challenged Imsil County.

County Governor Shim Min said, "This best evaluation is the result of the staff's active efforts to establish forest roads that are efficient for forest protection to improve income in mountainous areas," and added, "We will continue to do our best to improve the quality of forest roads by increasing environmentally friendly multifunctional forest roads."
