Half of the Nation Says "Democratic Party's Solo Election of Standing Committee Was a Mistake"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] About half of the public evaluated the Democratic Party of Korea's unilateral election of the National Assembly standing committee chairpersons as a wrong act.
According to Realmeter's survey commissioned by tbs on the 1st regarding public consensus on the unilateral election of the National Assembly standing committee chairpersons, 50.7% responded that it was a wrong act, ignoring the practice of bipartisan agreement, while 38.5% thought it was a good act, realizing responsible politics as the ruling party, the agency announced on the 2nd.
By age group, a majority in their 50s (59.3%), 20s (56.1%), and 60s (50.0%) evaluated the Democratic Party's unilateral election as a 'wrong act.' In the 30s and 40s age groups, positive and negative evaluations were evenly split.
By region, Daegu and Gyeongbuk had the highest percentage of 'wrong act' responses at 69.3%. Negative evaluations were also high in Seoul at 54.2%, and Busan and Ulsan at 53.2%. On the other hand, in Gyeonggi and Incheon (wrong act 48.1% vs. good act 41.8%) and Gwangju and Jeolla (41.1% vs. 45.7%), public opinion was evenly divided.
By ideological tendency, conservatives and moderates showed about 50% agreement with the 'wrong act' opinion, but among progressives (43.1% vs. 46.0%), the two opinions were nearly equal in support.
By party support, 74.3% of supporters of the United Future Party evaluated it as a 'wrong act,' while 52.6% of Democratic Party supporters evaluated it as a 'good act,' showing contrasting results. Among those who responded that they do not support any party, 57.7% agreed with the opinion that it was a 'wrong act.'

This survey contacted 11,094 adults nationwide aged 18 and over, with a final 500 respondents completing the survey, recording a response rate of 4.6%. The sampling error is ±4.4 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
