[Asia Economy Reporter Yoonju Hwang] Dow has launched a new service platform called 'MobilityScience™,' focusing on the possibilities, innovation, and services of materials science used in the transportation and automotive sectors.
This platform applies Dow's technologies, products, and services across all its business areas to the transportation industry, accelerating growth through innovation in materials science and further providing a seamless experience for Dow's customers and partners.
In particular, the transportation industry today is undergoing the most significant changes in a century amid the advancement of digital technologies and the pressure to realize a low-carbon economy. Dow is intensifying its efforts to create materials that expand the possibilities of customers' lives based on materials science and innovation, meeting the era's demands such as lightweighting, long-distance travel, improved convenience and safety, and carbon footprint reduction.
Dow’s 'MobilityScience™' includes a wide range of technologies such as polyolefins, polyurethanes, acrylics, specialty chemicals, and silicones for the composition of electric vehicles, hybrids, and internal combustion engines. These technologies and expertise are expected to improve mobility services demanded by society, accelerate innovation, reduce complexity, and enhance customer experience by connecting customers to Dow’s diverse products and functionalities.
Tim Boven, Director of MobilityScience, said, "Due to the recent COVID-19 situation, our society is minimizing the movement of people and goods, but the post-COVID automotive industry is expected to recover with a focus on sustainability. Dow’s expertise in materials science innovation is specialized to advance low-carbon and digital solutions, and we expect it to help lead new industry trends."
