View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin) held an on-site meeting on June 30th in collaboration with the Presidential Committee on Autonomy and Decentralization (Chair Kim Soon-eun) titled "On-site Meeting to Activate the Linkage and Cooperation between Educational Autonomy and Local Autonomy."
This meeting was held to share the necessity and importance of organic linkage and cooperation between the educational autonomy sector, such as education offices and schools, and the local autonomy sector, such as basic local governments, and to explore ways to discover and spread excellent cases in local communities.
At the meeting, experts from various fields including government, local governments, academia, and education gathered to present and discuss topics such as the direction of educational governance for building a local education ecosystem, educational autonomy and educational governance from the perspective of general autonomy, and operation plans for future-oriented educational autonomy cooperation districts.
All participants agreed on the necessity and importance of organic cooperation between education offices (schools) and local governments in terms of improving the quality of educational services for future generations, and agreed to join forces to actively discover and spread excellent cases in local communities.
In particular, Mayor Lee Dong-jin of Dobong-gu introduced the "Establishment of Neighborhood-based Village Education Governance" centered on our neighborhood education meetings, the "Dobong Innovation Education District Project," "Educational Autonomy and Local Autonomy," and "Exemplary Cooperation Cases between Schools and Villages," where schools and villages in Dobong-gu cooperate to help children and youth grow into capable democratic citizens.

Mayor Lee Dong-jin emphasized, "It is a time when all our strength and wisdom are needed so that children and youth can grow into healthy citizens and leaders of future society through diverse participation and experiences."
He also stated, "For education to fully perform these functions, organic cooperation between general autonomy and educational autonomy is necessary. Education must go beyond the school fence and combine with the village, actively supporting children to recognize themselves not only as students of the school but also as agents of the local community and to participate accordingly."
