Choi Mujin, CEO of NanumTech, Donates 100 Million KRW Development Fund to GIST
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] CEO Choi Moo-jin of Nanum Tech Co., Ltd. donated 100 million KRW as a development fund to Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (President Kim Gi-seon·GIST).
According to GIST on the 30th, the donation ceremony was held with the attendance of President Kim Gi-seon, CEO Choi Moo-jin of Nanum Tech Co., Ltd., and related personnel.
CEO Choi Moo-jin said, “I decided to make the donation because I highly appreciate GIST’s infinite growth potential with excellent original technology,” and added, “I hope the technology development and investment support, such as industry-academia cooperation utilizing GIST’s outstanding research achievements, will be efficiently used throughout the industry.”
President Kim Gi-seon stated, “I am always proud that an excellent medical device specialized company called Nanum Tech Co., Ltd. is located in our region,” and said, “Thank you for believing in GIST’s growth potential, and we will repay by revitalizing the local economy through even better research achievements and nurturing local customized talents in the future.”
Meanwhile, Nanum Tech Co., Ltd. succeeded in developing and researching an automated external defibrillator (AED) that delivers electric shocks to cardiac arrest patients to save lives in collaboration with GIST in 2009. Since then, after obtaining product approval from the Food Safety Administration and undergoing safety and efficacy processes at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, the company launched the ‘Heart Plus’ product, which received great response and has been leading the domestic market sales in this field.
Moreover, after market pioneering activities, in 2016, the company achieved the milestone of receiving the 1 million USD export tower award from the Korea International Trade Association and also succeeded in listing on KONEX, a stock market for early-stage small and medium enterprises, on June 1 of the same year.

Since 2018, the company has actively entered the South American market including Argentina, Colombia, and Chile, exporting to more than 30 countries worldwide, and last year signed an agreement worth 25.8 million USD with China for four years.
