SK Hynix Selected as a 4th Generation Technology Innovation Company... "Strengthening SoBuJang Development"
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] SK Hynix announced on the 30th that it selected Semix Co., Ltd., LK Engineering Co., Ltd., and Evertec Enterprise Co., Ltd. as 4th generation technology innovation companies and held a signing ceremony.
These technology innovation companies will jointly develop products with SK Hynix for two years and can directly test the developed products on Hynix's production lines, enabling a reduction in development time and an increase in product completeness. They are guaranteed a certain purchase volume from SK Hynix and will receive interest-free technology development loans and management consulting support.
SK Hynix stated, "The companies selected this year have high domestic competitiveness in the materials, parts, and equipment (SoBuJang) sector, where foreign companies have a high market share."
The newly selected Semix Co., Ltd. is a company specializing in wafer reliability testing equipment. LK Engineering Co., Ltd. produces parts that fix wafers inside semiconductor equipment, and Evertec Enterprise Co., Ltd. is a materials company specializing in the production of flux, a substance used to connect chips and substrates in the post-processing stage.
The signing ceremony held at the Icheon Campus was attended by SK Hynix CEO Lee Seok-hee, Semix CEO Kim Ji-seok, LK Engineering CEO Lee Junho, and Evertec Enterprise CEO Han Taesu. To prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the number of attendees was minimized, and the meeting rooms were separated to conduct the ceremony via video conference.
CEO Lee said, "Although there are many difficulties due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), let us work together to enhance the competitiveness of both companies through technological collaboration and strengthen the domestic semiconductor ecosystem," reaffirming the commitment to win-win cooperation.
Meanwhile, SK Hynix has been selecting and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises with high domestic potential among SoBuJang partner companies as technology innovation companies every year since 2017.

Among the 2nd generation companies whose technology innovation period expires this year, TEMC Co., Ltd. completed the joint development of specialty gases used in semiconductor etching processes ahead of schedule and has entered mass production. In addition, Mico Co., Ltd. and UbiMaterials Co., Ltd. have also completed joint development and are preparing for mass production. The 3rd generation companies selected in 2019, Digital Frontier Co., Ltd., Ace NanoChem Co., Ltd., and PEMVIX Co., Ltd., are currently conducting joint development with SK Hynix.
