United Future Party Takes Hardline Stance on North Korea for June 25 Anniversary: "Engrave June 25 in Your Mind" "North-South Fake Peace Show"
[Asia Economy reporters Lee Ji-eun and Lim Chun-han] On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Korean War, the United Future Party raised its voice for a hardline stance against North Korea. Kim Jong-in, the United Future Party's emergency committee chairman, said, "We are in a position to engrave the Korean War in our minds and firmly strengthen all defense postures," and returning floor leader Joo Ho-young criticized the government's North Korea policy as a "North-South disguised peace show."
On the 25th, Chairman Kim said at the United Future Party's emergency committee meeting held at the National Assembly main building, "We hope that, in response to North Korea's continuous threats, the people can feel assured by completing a stronger defense posture so that we can protect our country with our own strength and maintain peace."
He added, "I hope North Korea will be reborn as a member of the international community, a UN member state that complies with the UN Charter and international law practices," and pointed out, "Only then can North Korea achieve the regime stability it always talks about. It would be better not to have the delusion that regime stability can be achieved through threatening words or actions against the South."
This stance contrasts with some ruling party members, including Song Young-gil of the Democratic Party of Korea, who have proposed conciliatory measures such as easing UN sanctions on North Korea. He said, "Isn't this a day to recall all the horrors of the Korean War?" and added, "At that time, due to North Korea's invasion, the existence of the Republic of Korea was almost erased, but thanks to the participation of the United States and 16 UN countries, the Republic of Korea exists today. We must always keep the Korean War in mind and firmly strengthen all defense postures to prevent such a situation from happening again."
He continued, "The Democratic Party exerts excessive interference and language against the Prosecutor General and the Board of Audit and Inspection chairman, who are trying to faithfully perform their duties," and added, "We need to reaffirm that our society is a normal democratic society to be recognized as a country that faithfully practices democracy, and I hope the political circles refrain from unnecessary remarks and actions."

The president must constantly strive for complete denuclearization and efforts based on the ROK-US alliance, but the behavior shown in Bolton's memoir is puzzling and disappointing."
Joo said, "Many young people risked their lives and sacrificed, but is President Moon, who holds the command of the armed forces and the constitutional responsibility for national defense, doing his best?" and added, "I seriously doubt whether he is pursuing a security policy based on the overall will of the people."
