Dongjak-gu Promotes Safety Management to Prepare for Heavy Rainfall During the Monsoon Season
Emergency Safety Inspections at 33 Sites Including Steep Slopes and Construction Sites Until the 26th for Rainy Season Preparedness... Public Sewers and Storm Drains Maintenance, Safety Enhanced by Installing Smart Remote Control Access Systems at Dorimcheon Ingress and Egress Points
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) is taking safety management measures to protect residents' lives and property in preparation for heavy summer rains such as the monsoon and typhoons.
First, the district will conduct joint inspections of apartment construction sites and planned development project sites such as relocation and demolition until September, checking dangerous retaining walls in areas including Noryangjin-dong, Heukseok-dong, and Sangdo-dong.
In particular, with the onset of the rainy season, emergency safety inspections will be conducted by the 26th on a total of 33 sites, including 18 steep slopes and 15 construction sites.
A joint inspection team composed of private construction experts and public officials will check ▲the condition of slopes and drainage facilities for abnormalities ▲possibility of rockfalls or small to medium-scale collapses ▲whether drainage channels are secured at large construction sites ▲reinforcement and management status of temporary fences and falling object prevention nets.
Any issues that can be corrected on-site will be immediately addressed, and serious matters will result in correction orders to construction-related parties, with compliance verified.
Additionally, a smart safety management system will be established and operated using QR codes and smart devices to supervise all information from the status to management history of hazardous facilities within the district, including ▲facilities related to the National Safety Diagnosis ▲Category 3 facilities ▲stone retaining walls and embankments ▲construction sites.
The district will also invest 23.5 billion KRW this year to improve the drainage system by maintaining and inspecting public sewage pipes, rainwater inlets, and sewage treatment facilities within the area.
Focusing on flood-prone areas such as the densely populated Sadang-dong neighborhood, old and defective sewage pipes will be repaired and relocated, and dredging operations will be carried out to remove accumulated sediment and debris from 334 km of sewage pipes and 23,723 rainwater inlets throughout the district.
Furthermore, since last year, the district has been conducting the ‘Dorimcheon Area Improvement Project’ to prevent flood damage along the Dorimcheon stream embankment.
To enable rapid access control and prevent isolation accidents in the stream during sudden heavy rains at night, a smart remote control blocking system was installed and completed last year at six Dorimcheon stream access points within the district, with three more to be installed this year.
Meanwhile, by October, the district plans to carry out the ‘Dorimcheon Nighttime Landscape Lighting Improvement Project’ along a 1.3 km section of Dorimcheon, installing ▲118 security lights ▲10 floor gobo lights ▲78 color floodlights ▲39 rotating gobo lights.
