Jeongeup-si Launches 'Focused Livestock Disease Prevention Management' Initiative
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province, has launched a 'Focused Livestock Disease Prevention Management' campaign targeting livestock farms to minimize damage caused by livestock diseases due to summer heatwaves and monsoon rains from June to September.
The city expects this summer's temperatures to be higher than average and urged utmost efforts in quarantine measures to prevent damage caused by the hot and humid climate during the summer season.
For preventing livestock diseases in summer, the following guidelines were provided: ▲ Maintain dry feed conditions to prevent mold or bacterial growth in feed ▲ Remove water puddles around livestock barns and control mosquitoes with insecticides to prevent mosquito-borne diseases ▲ Install insulation materials on barn walls and roofs to prevent heatstroke ▲ Install ventilation fans and ensure regular ventilation ▲ Supply fresh water frequently to prevent dehydration in livestock ▲ Conduct thorough disinfection of barns and surrounding areas.
Additionally, for quarantine management during the monsoon season, the guidelines include: ▲ Clean and disinfect the inside and outside of barns twice a week ▲ Quickly drain and disinfect barns in case of flooding ▲ Manage hay and mixed feed to prevent them from getting wet ▲ Maintain cleanliness of feed containers and water troughs ▲ Minimize livestock stress and manage immunity against diseases.
