Government Allows Mask Shipment to Overseas Korean Families Regardless of Nationality
Limited to Korean nationals so far
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Starting from the 25th, it will be possible to send health masks overseas to family members who are overseas Koreans regardless of nationality. Until now, the only recipients eligible to receive masks sent via international mail were overseas Koreans with Korean nationality among the sender's family members.
On the 24th, the government announced that after consultations with related ministries, it has decided to allow sending masks to overseas Koreans with foreign nationality (including overseas adoptees) and the parents and children of marriage immigrants.
This measure was taken considering the continuous requests from citizens wishing to send health masks to family members living abroad, as well as the recent stabilization of domestic mask supply due to the expansion of public mask purchase quantities and export increases.
To send masks overseas, the sender must bring documents verifying the family relationship between the sender and the recipient, along with the sender's own ID, and have them verified at the post office counter.
Documents that can verify the family relationship between the sender and the recipient include a resident registration certificate, family relation certificate, family register, basic certificate, and marriage relation certificate.
