Police Agency and Fire Agency to Integrate 'Emergency Report App' into One
Ministry of the Interior and Safety Provides Picture Reporting and Multilingual Services for Disabled Persons and Foreigners
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Starting next year, the mobile apps for emergency reporting, such as the Police Agency's '112 Emergency Report' and the Fire Agency's '119 Report,' will be integrated into a single app.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 24th that it will promote the 'Emergency Report Integrated Service Advancement Project,' which integrates mobile apps operated by the police, fire departments, and local governments.
Currently, various emergency reporting apps are operated separately by each agency, causing inconvenience as reporters must install individual apps depending on the type of report. Additionally, with the increase of foreign residents in Korea, there have been continuous calls for measures to resolve reporting difficulties caused by language barriers.
The Emergency Report Joint Management Center of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to provide various reporting methods for vulnerable safety groups through the 'Emergency Report Integrated Standard App' to be developed under this project, in addition to the existing services provided by the police and fire departments.
The app will allow users to select the content of their report through pictures, making it easy for anyone to report. For text-based reports, it will support more than 13 languages and introduce real-time translation services between the reporter and the control center.
Furthermore, to jointly utilize accurate map information of emergency reporting agencies, a 'Geographic Information System (GIS) Data Integration' project will be promoted simultaneously, aiming to improve the accuracy of the reporter's location information and strengthen personal information protection measures.
