Kim Tae-nyeon and Joo Ho-young Meet in Gangwon-do... Will This Open the Way for Negotiations on Assembly Organization?
[Asia Economy Reporter Koh Hyung-kwang] Eight days after the Democratic Party of Korea forcibly elected six standing committee chairs on the 15th, a meeting between the floor leaders of the ruling and opposition parties took place. Attention is focused on whether the National Assembly, which had a cooling-off period of about a week, will break the deadlock in the floor organization negotiations and return to normal.
The Democratic Party's Public Relations Office announced on the 23rd that Floor Leader Kim Tae-nyeon met with Future United Party Floor Leader Joo Ho-young at a temple in Gangwon Province. It is known that the floor leaders of both parties are currently engaged in talks to normalize the National Assembly.
The meeting was arranged after Floor Leader Kim inquired about Joo's whereabouts and went to meet him. Previously, Floor Leader Joo had expressed his intention to resign over the Democratic Party's forcible election of six standing committee chairs and had been on a retreat visiting temples nationwide.

From the Democratic Party's perspective, the plan is to complete the floor organization this week and begin the review of the third supplementary budget, but due to Floor Leader Joo's disappearance, related negotiations had not been possible. Currently, the United Party is pressuring the Democratic Party by saying that if the Legislation and Judiciary Committee is not returned, the ruling party can take all 18 standing committee chairs.
