Jinseongyoung Calligraphy Master Publishes 10th Book After 4-Year Journey
‘Speaking Letters, Tasty Letters 7’... A Compilation of Various Contents Including Behind-the-Scenes Stories
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Calligraphy master Seoksan Jin Seong-yeong has published his 10th book after a four-year writing journey.
The newly released Talking Letters, Delicious Letters 7 includes a memorial work for the 6th anniversary of the Sewol Ferry disaster, which faced the tragic sea six years ago, the behind-the-scenes story of writing the official slogan for the 40th anniversary of the May 18 Gwangju Uprising, "Remember! May Spirit, Bloom! Great Harmony World," and a memorial piece for the 11th anniversary of the late former President Roh Moo-hyun.
Additionally, it compiles meaningful content such as calligraphy stories comforting and encouraging the public during the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, including a behind-the-scenes story of personally delivering the wood carving calligraphy "Overcome National Crisis, Leap Jongno" to Lee Nak-yeon, Chair of the National Crisis Overcoming Committee, during the general election period, healing calligraphy set against island backgrounds, and valuable writings on life skills and good letters not to be missed in life.
Alongside this, it also features some beautiful writings and calligraphy stories that could not be completed due to the passing of the late essayist Hwang Tae-young in November 2017 from a chronic illness, with whom Jin had been collaborating on essays and calligraphy for over a year.
Master Jin said, "Now, the writing field has already established itself as a part of my artistic activities," adding, "The work of sublimating the precious value of calligraphy into writing is a great happiness and rewarding task because it allows people to see my calligraphy philosophy at a glance."
Meanwhile, at the end of last December, during the selection process for masters in various fields organized by the Korea Traditional Masters Association, Jin was certified as the 2nd calligraphy master, marking a milestone in his rise as a representative calligraphy artist of Korea.
