Daegu Arboretum, Wooden Deck Walkway at Second Entrance... "Resolving Residents' Long-Standing Request"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu Arboretum announced on the 23rd that it completed the improvement construction of the 2nd entrance gate on the 28th of last month, resolving the long-standing residents' petition project.
The 2nd entrance gate of Daegu Arboretum is a major entrance used by an average of 1,500 citizens daily since the completion of the large-scale apartment complex project in Daegok 2 District, which has about 5,000 households, in April 2018.
Before the development project of Daegok 2 District, wooden stairs were installed at this entrance to provide convenience to visitors using the nearby Sampilsan forest trail, but the structure was not accessible for wheelchairs and strollers, causing dissatisfaction among residents.
Accordingly, regarding the budget needed for the installation of a ramp at the 2nd entrance, nearby residents proposed it as a Daegu City resident participatory budget in 2020, and Daegu Arboretum calculated the necessity of the project and appropriate construction costs, gaining active cooperation from the resident participatory budget committee members.
As a model case of public-private cooperation resolving residents' petition projects, the 2nd entrance gate of Daegu Arboretum has been transformed into a place accessible for strollers and electric wheelchairs by having wooden stairs and a gentle wooden deck promenade (127m).
