"Use with Confidence" ... Han River Park Sand Playground Disinfection Doubled
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The Seoul Metropolitan Government's Hangang Project Headquarters announced on the 21st that it will strengthen safety and hygiene management of sand playgrounds in Hangang Parks to provide visitors with safe outdoor play spaces and to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The frequency of sunlight disinfection (turning over the sand) in sand playgrounds will be increased from once a week to at least twice a week, and disinfection using specialized equipment will be increased from twice a year to at least four times a year. Additionally, trash and foreign substances are cleaned daily.
The headquarters also collects playground sand annually and requests the Seoul Institute of Health and Environment to conduct tests twice a year for parasite eggs from animal feces and once a year for heavy metals such as lead and cadmium.
