Abe: "Entry Restrictions Eased for Vietnam and 3 Other Countries... South Korea Excluded"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expressed on the 18th his intention to ease entry restrictions currently in place to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) for four countries including Vietnam. However, South Korea was excluded from the list of countries for which entry restrictions will be eased.
According to foreign media such as Kyodo News, Prime Minister Abe officially stated at the COVID-19 task force meeting held that afternoon that coordination would be made to ease entry restrictions for four countries: Vietnam, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand.

Prime Minister Abe also expressed his intention to gradually expand the list of countries eligible for eased entry restrictions. However, South Korea was initially excluded from this list. It is reported that the Japanese government has not clearly stated when it will ease entry restrictions on South Korea.
